My apologies for being absent from here for a little while. My father passed away last Friday, August 2nd. Dad had lung cancer, but it had been removed successfully with surgery. He also had two aneurysms and was suffering from a series of mini strokes, but none of that was the cause of death. He actually died very suddenly of what the doctors feel was either a heart attack (no autopsy was done) or a massive stroke. He was 73. Right now, my Mom and my family have been trying to get back to some normalcy after the funeral, etc., but everything is a reminder of him and sometimes that’s not what we need…reminders.
Still, it’s hard to really grieve over anything except the suddenness of it because he had lived such a full life and where he is now, he is no longer suffering. He was declining in health and mental ability, but he certainly wasn’t showing signs of being in distress that day. He simply was alive one minute and gone the next. Unfortunately, my 16 year old son was there and had to witness it. He’s a strong young man, but it couldn’t have been easy for him. All three of my boys were very close to their Grandad and are handling this in the best way they can.
2013 hasn’t been a good year for our family so far. Lots of ups and down, but that’s why we have faith that will see us through the tough times. I’ll return as soon as I can with more postings and working on future books. Right now, I have to focus on my family. Thank you and have a great week. <3
